You gave the world punk rock, gave it to us for free. It's just some shitty noise, but it's everything to me. Something you created saved my life, so while I'm here you'll never really die.
And every time some stupid kids climb up onto a stage, and play four chords and sing short songs of love and joy and rage, we'll know it's because of you that we all do what we do. And we'll smile, and we'll remember you.
You taught us that music can be a reality. You weren't a rock star, Joey - you were just a kid like me. If you love rock n roll, you can start a band with your friends by your side and a guitar in your hand.
Wherever kids are playing punk rock songs and having fun, you'll be watching us and you'll know your job is done. And we'll know it's because of you that we all do what we do. And we'll smile, and we'll remember you.
